Students, Parents and Staff Members:

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Kentucky Department of Education Interim Commissioner Kevin Brown announced in a news conference today that they strongly recommend all Kentucky school districts close for a two-week period, starting Monday, March 16.

Therefore, Campbellsville Independent Schools will close Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 27.

Also, until further notice, all after-school activities, including athletic contests, are suspended.

School will be in session tomorrow, Friday, March 13, and it is imperative that students attend to receive instructions from their teachers as to how to complete their work during the closure, whether it be online or paper assignments.

CIS staff members will stay in contact with Lake Cumberland District Health Department officials to evaluate if school can resume on Monday, March 30, or if more days are necessary to ensure the safety of all students and staff members.

Information will be released soon as to how CIS officials will provide food for students in need during the two-week closure.

Parents, please continue to check our social media outlets for updates during the next two weeks.

We thank you for your trust in decisions we make in coming weeks, and appreciate your support as we move forward.

As always, please stay vigilant about hand washing and hygiene.

Health and safety is always our top priority.

We appreciate the opportunity to educate your children.

Kirby Smith

Superintendent
