CMS student elected state Junior Beta president

Campbellsville Middle School has once again made school history at the Kentucky Junior Beta convention.

 

At the convention, seventh-grader Jaclyn Jackson was elected to serve as Kentucky Junior Beta Club president for next year’s convention.

 

This is the third year in a row that CMS students have been elected to a state Beta office.

 

And, Jackson is the first CMS student to serve as a state Beta president.

 

This summer, Jackson will run for National Junior Beta Club president at this year’s national convention.

 

As a whole, the CMS Junior Beta Club received a Gold Key Growth Award.

 

Several other students competed and placed at the state convention. As a result, they advance to compete at nationals.

 

Those students include the following.

 

Seventh-graders Logan England, Ivy Lawler and Kaylyn Lawson won first place in the portfolio competition.

 

Eighth-grader Kayden Birdwell won third place in language arts.

 

In the service learning competition, eighth-graders Chloe Thompson, Braelyn Price, Ava Hughes and Ellington Gowin won third place.

 

Brayden Judd, a sixth-grader, placed fourth in the speech competition.

 

Chloe Thompson, an eighth-grader, served as Kentucky Junior Beta vice president.

 

She delivered a keynote and farewell address to the nearly 10,000 students attending the convention.

 

National convention is June 19-22 in Fort Worth, Texas.

 

Beta sponsors are CMS teachers Paige Cook and Robbilyn Speer, iEagle teacher Katie Campbell and Campbellsville Elementary School teacher Farrah Hord.
