The app is intended to inspire people to achieve their goals in life, big or small, by displaying inspirational quotes.

In a news release, Comer stated that he congratulates Richards on his accomplishments.

“I want to congratulate Gideon on this extraordinary accomplishment, which puts his critical thinking, creativity and intelligence on full display,” Comer said.

“Gideon is one of the best and brightest of the First Congressional District, and I hope his interest in technology and student involvement is an example for all of his peers.”

According to a news release, the Congressional App Challenge was created to help promote interest in STEM skills, which are abilities that are imminently important to the future of the United States.

The app challenge is open to students in sixth grade through high school seniors across the First District.

In addition to his classes at CHS, Richards is enrolled in computer science courses at Central Kentucky Career Academy and completed the app for the competition as part of a class project.
