CES students celebrate Red Ribbon Week

Campbellsville Elementary School students and staff members celebrated Red Ribbon Week with several special events.

Red Ribbon Week is the largest drug prevention campaign in the country, and serves as a way for students to take a stand against illegal drugs.

This year, Red Ribbon Week was Oct. 21-25.

Events included special dress-up days and activities to promote the importance of saying no to using illegal drugs.

Students recited the Just Say No pledge each day.

Monday was Everyone has a Name Day.

Students and teachers wore nametags throughout the day and greeted everyone by their name.

Tuesday was No One Eats Alone Day.

Students and teachers ate with someone new during lunch and made sure no one ate alone. Those participating signed an “I Made a New Friend” banner.

Wednesday was Favorite T-shirt Day.

Students and teachers wore a t-shirt that expressed something they are passionate about. Examples included a favorite movie, team, sport or music.

Students were encouraged to find new friends with the same interests and ask an adult to take a group picture.

Thursday was Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Students and teachers completed random acts of kindness all day.

A banner was hung in the hallway where students and teachers used post-it notes to give shout outs to someone who completed a random act of kindness.

At the end of the day, a random post-it note was drawn for a prize.

Friday was Purple Pride Day.

Students and teachers maxed out on their purple outfits to support their school.

Each classroom selected a boy and a girl who wore the most items for a prize.

Students were given Red Ribbon Week bracelets at the beginning of the week, and those who wore them through the week were randomly be given for prizes.
