CIS employees join together for opening day workshop

Campbellsville Independent Schools’ employees joined together on Tuesday, Aug. 13, for an opening day workshop to start the 2019-2020 school year.

First, Campbellsville elementary, middle and high school employees joined Board office staff members and Campbellsville Board of Education members to have breakfast together and fellowship.

CIS Superintendent Kirby Smith, who is in his third year as the District’s top leader, addressed the group and encouraged them to be a family and do everything possible to encourage and love their students.

The District’s motto, he said, is to change lives, and he encourages every employee to realize they have an opportunity to do that every day.

Campbellsville Elementary School Principal Elisha Rhodes, Campbellsville Middle School Principal Zach Lewis and Campbellsville High School Principal Weston Jones introduced their new staff members and welcomed them to the District.

In all, about 30 employee changes were made this summer, including the addition of about 20 staff members.

After breakfast, CIS employees received information in the form of several trainings to help them ensure the 2019-2020 school year is a success.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, all CIS employees underwent active shooter training with Kentucky State Police.

The school year began on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and is slated to end on Friday, May 22.
