CES Wings Express students enjoy reading, learning

Campbellsville Elementary School Wings Express students recently enjoyed a day of reading and learning.

Wings Express students attended a two-week summer camp recently to have fun and learn together.

Students worked with teachers to sharpen their reading and math skills, while also having fun on several special trips and hearing from guest speakers and readers.

One morning, Kelsie Pepper, outreach librarian at the Taylor County Public Library, came to CES and read several books to students.

Pepper also helped students with some scratch art.

The students then enjoyed a special snack and had fun playing on the playground.

Wings Express is a program to help students with homework and other activities.

Students receive help with reading, math, science, technology, social skills and more. They also participate in activities to learn about nutrition.

The program, which is for students in kindergarten through third grade, is free to those who apply and are accepted.

Doug Holmes is Wings Express director.

For more information, or to donate to or volunteer with the program, call Holmes at (270) 465-4561.
