CMS attendance clerk receives Change Award

Campbellsville Middle School attendance clerk Amanda Morris received the Change Award at the Campbellsville Board of Education meeting on Monday, Oct. 21.

 

Superintendent Kirby Smith honors three Change Award winners each month, including a certified and classified employee and a community member.

 

Morris received the classified Change Award.

 

The awards are given based upon six elements, which spell the word Eagles. They include Encouraging and exhibiting Attitudes of Greatness, while Leading with high Expectations to Success.

 

CMS Guidance Counselor Elizabeth Wiedewitsch and Assistant Principal Tim Bailey nominated Morris for the honor.

 

Wiedewitsch wrote that Morris was a trooper during recent renovations in the CMS office.

 

“With a front person on leave, she has stepped up even more and does so willingly and always with a smile for our students,” Wiedewitsch wrote on Morris’s nomination form.

 

“She is an asset in the front, as she knows the comings and goings of students, parents and teachers, and can keep it all straight.

 

“She is able to adapt to the needed situation and multi-task at all times.”

 

Bailey wrote that Morris is a fixture in the front office and comes to school every day to make sure all students and present and counted.

 

“Mrs. Amanda is the first face that most visitors see when the enter the building, and she always greets them with a genuine smile and makes them feel welcome,” Bailey wrote.

 

“Mrs. Amanda can be a student’s best friend when they need an ear to listen, but can also put them back in line when necessary.”

 

Bailey wrote that there isn’t a day he doesn’t rely on Morris to help him.

 

“I know I speak for the entire staff at CMS when I say that CMS is a safer, friendlier environment, thanks to Mrs. Amanda Morris.”

 

Morris has worked for CIS since 2011.
