CIS teachers, staff members learn from each other

Campbellsville Independent Schools’ teachers and staff members recently spent a day learning from each other.

 

On Monday, Aug. 12, the District hosted a day of professional development workshops, taught entirely by CIS personnel.

 

Campbellsville elementary, middle and high school teachers led sessions.

 

Sessions were hosted at CES, CMS and CHS campuses.

 

Topics for the sessions varied, from using student-led strategies in the classroom to school safety to project-based learning and much more.

 

CES teacher Lisa Mardis and CIS parent Rebecca Sidebottom taught a session on dyslexia.

 

Cyndi Chadwick, the CES music teacher, taught a session on using Leader in Me concepts when teaching other subject areas.

 

At CMS, teachers Paige Cook and Robbilyn Speer taught a session about cross-curricular writing strategies.

 

CMS teacher Andrea Gribbins discussed building and maintaining student culture and relationships.

 

At the iEagle campus, teacher Tyler Hardy led a session about project-based learning.

 

And at the CHS campus, teacher Susan Dabney taught about student-led learning strategies.

 

Cheryl Dicken, a math and science teacher, spoke about thinking strategies.

 

Jordan Jessie, the CIS psychologist, led a session about RTI paperwork and District procedures.

 

And SRO Charlie Houk discussed school safety.

 

The 2019-2020 school year begins Wednesday, Aug. 14.
