Campbellsville High School junior Lauryn Agathen has been chosen to attend the Commonwealth Honors Academy this summer.
The program is a challenging academic enrichment program at Murray State University from June 8-29.
Academy students live and learn with their peers and teachers as they take college-level honors courses, attend field trips to enrich classroom experiences and participate in social and personal growth seminars.
The program is open to students from Kentucky and other states. No more than 120 are accepted.
After completing the program, students will received six hours of college credit and are eligible to take an additional six hours of courses for free during their senior year of high school.
Agathen will be assigned to an interdisciplinary humanities and fine arts course and can choose an elective business, science, education, health science, social science, communication or engineering course to study.
She is the first CHS student to attend the program, which began in 2001.
