Campbellsville High School’s chili supper to benefit principal Kirby Smith’s family raised $3,000 to help pay for medical expenses.

Renovation plans at Campbellsville elementary and middle schools are moving forward, with an architect for the project possibly hired on Monday, March 9.

Campbellsville Board of Education members met in special session on Monday, March 2, to interview representatives from three architecture firms.

Campbellsville Elementary school recently celebrated “I Love to Read” Day by inviting community leaders to read stories to students.

Campbellsville Elementary School is celebrating a week of Read Across America events to honor Dr. Seuss’s upcoming birthday on March 2. Events began Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Tuesday was “Green Eggs and Ham” Day and students and staff were asked to wear green in honor of the book.

 “I Am Not Going to Get Up Today” was the theme for Thursday and students and staff were asked to wear pajamas.

Friday was “Cat in the Hat” Day and students and staff members were asked to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters.

Campbellsville High School National Honor Society will sponsor a blood drive on Friday, March 13.

Congratulations to Anthony Farris!

Campbellsville Middle School science teacher Anthony Farris was featured in the Feb. 23 issue of the Central Kentucky News-Journal. Farris was interviewed as part of a series of stories about Black History Month. Be sure to read the story!

Campbellsville Middle School choir will host its annual “Singing for Sweets” fundraiser at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at the school cafeteria.

Campbellsville Elementary School 21st Century Program, known as Wings Express, hosted a family night on Feb. 12, with 160 people attending.

Campbellsville High School junior varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Taylor and Marion counties to win the Boys’ 20th District Junior Varsity Tournament championship on Saturday, Feb. 14.

Campbellsville Elementary School is planning a week of Read Across America events to honor Dr. Seuss’s upcoming birthday on March 2. Events begin Monday, Feb. 23.

Campbellsville High School will host an open house and ribbon cutting for its new field house on the Campbellsville Elementary School campus on Saturday, March 14.

Congratulations to Junior Guard members!

Campbellsville Independent Schools’ students participating in Junior Guard for the 2014-2015 school year are Brandon Lawson, Savannah Lane, Haley Watson, Tristan Lopez, Christian Berry and Nicolas Cowan. Aaron Webb, a specialist with the Campbellsville National Guard, sponsors the Junior Guard, which is part of the Drug Demand Reduction Program.

Campbellsville High School has partnered with a local mother in her quest to stop drug abuse in Taylor County.

Campbellsville High School senior Austin Ward has passed medical testing and was sworn in as a U.S. Army National Guard soldier on Friday, Feb. 6.

 

Campbellsville High School has formed an Eagle News Team, which will work with Campbellsville radio station Q-104 to deliver news about the district to the Taylor County community.
