Interjections

An interjection is a word or word group that shows feeling. A comma follows a mild interjection; a strong interjection is followed by an exclamation mark. Interjections do not fit grammatically with the rest of the sentence. They are never the subject and they come at the beginning of a sentence.

Examples: Well, we will soon be home. Oh! I didn't know he had died. Hey! Get over here!
