CMS student wins state Beta office

Campbellsville Middle School seventh-grader Chloe Thompson was recently elected to a state office at the Kentucky Junior Beta convention.

 

Several other students won awards and advance to compete at the national convention this summer.

 

The Kentucky Junior Beta convention was Jan. 16-18 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville.

 

Sixth-grader Gabriel Noyola won second place in mixed media.

 

Whitney Frashure, an eighth-grader, placed third in language arts.

 

Eighth-grader Chase Hord and sixth-grader Rowan Petett were second in club trading pin.

 

Logan England, a sixth-grader, was fourth in portfolio.

 

And the club finished fifth in apparel design.

 

After being elected as Kentucky Junior Beta Vice President, Thompson becomes the second CMS student to be elected to a Beta office.

 

CMS eighth-grader Chase Hord served as secretary at this year’s convention.

 

He was elected to the position during last year’s convention, and became the first CMS student to be have such an office.

 

Last summer, he was elected to the national Junior Beta Convention secretary office at the national convention, and will serve in that capacity at this summer’s convention in Oklahoma City, Okla.

 

CMS students attending the Kentucky Junior Beta convention include sixth-graders Logan England, Mason Fisher, Anna Floyd, Jaxon Garrett, Zeke Harris, Vallie Houk, Jaclyn Jackson, Noah Leachman, Lilyan Murphy, Gabriel Noyola, Aidan Phillips, Lillian Sears and Kylee Sowders; seventh-graders Gabby Bright, Aryanna Britton, Karlie Cox, Brianna Dobson, Hunter Falls, Isaac Garrison, Ellington Gowin, Ava Hughes, Nathan McFarland, Chloe Mitchell, Diego Noyola, Aaliyah Nunez, Braelyn Price, Gracie Taylor, Chloe Thompson and Keely Thompson; and eighth-graders Haylee Allen, Bri Davis, Whitney Frashure, Bri Hayes, Leigh Hicks, Chase Hord, Alysa Howard, Nate Mitchell, Zamar Owens, Mary Russell, Mikaela Scharbrough, Dakota Slone and Ronin Smith.

 

Beta sponsors are CMS teachers Paige Cook, Robbilyn Speer and Katie Campbell, CMS bookkeeper Natalia Warren, Campbellsville High School bookkeeper Kim Thompson and Campbellsville Elementary School teacher Farrah Hord.

 

The national Junior Beta Convention is June 15-18 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
