CIS employees join together for opening day workshop

Campbellsville Independent Schools’ employees joined together on Tuesday, Aug. 7, for an opening day workshop to start the 2018-2019 school year.

First, Campbellsville elementary, middle and high school employees joined Board office staff members and Campbellsville Board of Education members to have breakfast together and fellowship.

CIS Superintendent Kirby Smith, who is in his second year as the District’s top leader, addressed the group and encouraged them to be a team and do everything possible to help students.

Smith introduced the District’s new leaders at CES, CMS and CHS.

Weston Jones is now principal at Campbellsville High School.

Jones replaces David Petett, who is now director of food service and federal programs.

Elisha Rhodes and Zach Lewis are returning to the principal posts at Campbellsville elementary and middle schools, respectively.

The principals introduced their new staff members and welcomed them to the District.

In all, about 55 employee changes were made this summer, including the addition of about 15 staff members.

After breakfast, CIS employees received information in the form of several workshops to help them ensure the 2018-2019 school year is a success.

The school year begins on Wednesday, Aug. 8, and is slated to end on Wednesday, May 22.
