Campbellsville High School track team members recently participated in region competition, and several have advanced to the state meet.
CHS sophomore Taliyah Hazelwood advances to compete in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dash races.
Natalie Caldwell, a junior, will compete in the discus throw.
And the boys’ 4x200 relay team also advances.
The team is made up of juniors Jackson Hinton, Charlie Pettigrew, Daesean Vancleave, Joe Pipes and Evan McAninch, sophomores Mark Rigsby and Mikael Vaught and freshman Reggie Thomas.
The state track meet is Thursday, May 17, at the University of Kentucky.
The region competition was on Friday, May 11, at Green County High School.
Overall, the CHS girls’ team finished in eighth place, and the boys’ team was 12th.
Hazelwood finished the 100-meter dash in eighth place. Jasmine Coro, a sophomore, finished 22nd.
In the 200-meter dash, Hazelwood finished third, and Coro was 21st.
In the 400, Hazelwood was second and Campbellsville Middle School seventh-grader Alysa Howard was 14th.
Christa Riggs, a junior, finished 11th in the 800-meter run. Abbie Dicken, also a junior, was 14th.
In the 1,600-meter run, sophomore Zoe McAninch finished 14th.
The girls’ 4x100 relay team, made up of CMS seventh-graders Alysa Howard and Whitney Frashure, eighth-graders Abi Brisko and Kitana Taylor, freshman Gracie O’Rafferty and sophomore Jasmine Coro, finished 13th.
The team also competed in the girls’ 4x200 relay and finished in 12th place.
The girls’ 4x400 relay team, made up of Howard, eighth-grader Gabby Skaggs, Hazelwood, McAninch, Dicken and Riggs, finished in ninth place.
In the girls’ high jump, McAninch finished 11th.
CHS junior Natalie Caldwell finished the shot put in ninth place. Sierra Owens, a sophomore, was 23rd.
In the girls’ discus throw, Caldwell was third and sophomore Haley Morris was 21st.
In the boys’ 100-meter dash, junior Daesean Vancleave was seventh and Charlie Pettigrew, also a junior, was ninth.
CHS juniors Joe Pipes and Jackson Hinton finished the boys’ 200-meter dash in 13th and 14th places, respectively.
In the 400-meter dash, Pipes was seventh.
CHS junior Ian McAninch finished the 800-meter run in 11th place. He was seventh in the 3,200-meter run.
Josh Lucas, a CMS eighth-grader, finished the 1,600-meter run in 18th place.
In the 110-meter hurdles, CHS senior Christian Berry finished seventh.
Evan McAninch, a junior, finished the 300-meter hurdles in sixth place.
The boys’ 4x100 relay team finished in seventh place. The team is made up of juniors Jackson Hinton, Charlie Pettigrew, Evan McAninch, Tristan Johnson and Daesean Vancleave and freshman Mikael Vaught.
In the 4x200 race, the team, made up of juniors Jackson Hinton, Daesean Vancleave, Charlie Pettigrew, Joe Pipes and Evan McAninch, sophomores Mark Rigsby and Mikael Vaught and freshman Reggie Thomas, finished fifth.
The boys’ 4x400 team finished seventh. Members are senior Christian Berry, juniors Evan McAninch, Ian McAninch and Joe Pipes, freshmen Jake Dicken and Reggie Thomas and eighth-graders Nate Arachi and Josh Lucas.
In the boys’ high jump, junior Taj Sanders was seventh and Rigsby finished 13th.
Thomas finished the long jump in seventh place, and Vaught was 23rd.
In the boys’ shot put, junior Tristan Johnson finished 10th. Taekwon McCoy, a sophomore, was 25th.
And in the boys’ discus throw, McCoy was 20th and seventh-grader Levi Dicken was 23rd.
