CES students get some exercise at Wings Express

Campbellsville Elementary School Wings Express students recently had fun working out together.

Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce Board members recently hosted a week of special activities with Wings Express students.

On the last day, students had fun playing a bean bag toss game, dancing, doing the limbo and hula hooping.

Wings Express is a program to help students with homework and other activities. Students receive help with reading, math, science, technology, social skills and more. They also participate in activities to learn about nutrition.

The program, which is for students in kindergarten through third grade, is free to those who apply and are accepted.

Wings Express students stay at school from 3 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. There are no activities on Fridays.

Students are given a snack and then divided into groups to participate in programs that best fit their needs.

About 90 students participate in the Wings Express program.

Doretha Sanders is Wings Express director.

For more information about the program, call Sanders at (270) 465-4561.
