CES third-graders participate in Operation Gratitude

Campbellsville Elementary School third-graders recently helped others by participating in the Operation Gratitude project.

Operation Gratitude is a program geared toward lifting the spirits of United States military personnel and first responders.

Each year, Operation Gratitude staff members send more than 250,000 care packages to soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and coast guardsmen who are deployed overseas. Packages also go to first responders, veterans, care givers and children.

The packages contain snacks, hygiene products, entertainment and handmade items, as well as personal letters.

In Shirley Cox’s writing classes at CES, third-graders recently wrote letters to be included in the care packages.

The letters are a way for students to express their thanks to those who serve their country, and as a way for them to be a servant to others.
