CMS students to collect food for those in need

Campbellsville Middle School students are collecting food items to help those in need this Christmas season.

A canned food drive began on Tuesday, Dec. 12, and will continue through Tuesday, Dec. 19.

The drive is hosted in conjunction with the Campbellsville High School girls’ basketball team hosting its annual Food Pantry Classic next week.

Students are asked to bring in canned foods and non-perishable items, with all donations going toward the Taylor County Food Pantry.

All leadership classes collecting more than 100 items will receive a special treat.

Points will be awarded for items collected to see which leadership class wins.

Canned goods, Ramen noodles and Kool-Aid five-packs count for one point, boxed items count for one to two points and peanut butter will count for three points.

All items for donation should be brought to students’ leadership classes.

CHS is also hosting a canned food drive. All items to be donated can be brought to the CHS office.

The Food Pantry Classic tournament will be played on Dec. 20-22 in the CHS gym.

Games begin on Wednesday, Dec. 20. The schedule follows, in bracket order.

7:30 p.m. – Casey County vs. Knott County Central.

On Thursday, Dec. 21, the losers’ bracket games will be at 3 and 4:30 p.m., and the winners’ bracket games will be at 6 and 7:30 p.m.
