CES students learn about woodwind instruments

Campbellsville Elementary School students are learning about musical instruments.

In Cyndi Chadwick’s classes, students are discussing many different types of instruments, and how they are used to make sound.

Woodwind instruments, such as the clarinet, saxophone and the bassoon, create sound through a mouthpiece and reed.

To see how a woodwind works, Campbellsville University education student Scott Caffee, who is Chadwick’s student teacher, played the bassoon for students.

Students studied how the instrument uses a double reed and keys to make sound.

As part of their unit, students are creating a binder full of photos of the different types of instruments.
