CES students make ornaments for ‘Project Rudolph’

Campbellsville Elementary School students are putting their art skills to use to help soldiers this Christmas.

For the fifth year, CES is participating in “Project Rudolph,” a campaign to provide gift bags to soldiers deployed overseas, injured veterans and soldiers traveling through airports around Christmas time.

Last year, “Project Rudolph” bags were given to service members in about 20 countries around the world. More than 20,000 bags were given around the world. For some soldiers, this is the only Christmas present they will receive.

For their part, CES students made reindeer ornaments in Adrienne Hash’s art class.

CES Guidance Counselor Sonya Orberson talked to students about the importance of caring for others and doing something nice for someone else.

Orberson talked to CES students about the meaning of Christmas and family traditions.

To make their ornaments, students painted their reindeer face and then added eyes, a nose and antlers.

When finished, CES will send about 600 ornaments to be included in the “Project Rudolph” bags.
