Campbellsville Elementary School Preschool Assistant Beth Sandidge received the Change Award at the Campbellsville Board of Education meeting on Monday, Nov. 13.
Campbellsville Independent Schools Superintendent Kirby Smith honors three Change Award winners each month, including a certified and classified employee and a community member.
Sandidge, who will soon become the bookkeeper at CES, received the classified Change Award.
The awards are given based upon six elements, which spell the word Eagles. They include Encouraging and exhibiting Attitudes of Greatness, while Leading with high Expectations to Success.
In reading a letter nominating Sandidge for the honor, Smith read that it takes a very special person to work students – especially the youngest in the District.
“When working with 3- and 4-year-olds, a person certainly has their hands full,” Smith read.
CES preschool teacher Denise Spencer, who works with Sandidge, stated that, when looking for a new assistant, she prayed for someone who would love her kids.
“Our class is an inclusive classroom with children in varying stages of development and special needs. I needed someone who could see beyond the needs to the potential in each child,” Spencer stated.
“Not everyone can do that. It takes a special person. God answered that prayer in a big way when he sent Beth to work with our littlest ones. She goes above and beyond what is required of her every day.
“Many days she works more hours than she is paid for just because she has a heart for making sure our littles are taken care of,” she wrote. “I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with. She is the true picture of what it means to ‘change lives.’”
Smith stated that Sandidge has worked for CIS since 2014, and has always been fully committed to her position.
“Beth is a hardworking, responsible, dependable and dedicated employee,” Smith read.
“I have seen Beth in action over the past three years, and I can’t express enough how valuable she is to our District’s family. Beth has proven to be an asset to our preschool children, classrooms and school in every way.”
