CES to celebrate Red Ribbon Week

Campbellsville Elementary School will celebrate Red Ribbon Week soon with several special events.

Red Ribbon Week is the largest drug prevention campaign in the country, and serves as a way for students to take a stand against illegal drugs.

This year, Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 23-27.

Events include special dress up days and other activities.

On Monday, CES students will wear red, white and blue for “Drug Free America” Day.

Tuesday is camouflage and green day, with students encouraged to not let drugs pollute their lives and to join the fight against drugs.

Wednesday, students will dress for the career they would like to have or the college they support, knowing that, if they are drug free, they can do and be anything they want.

On Thursday, CES students will team up against drugs by wearing school colors.

And on Friday, students will wear superhero clothing, because superheroes don’t do drugs. Students aren’t allowed to wear masks or bring any weapons to school.

Each day during the week, CES students will wear red ribbons and recite the “Just Say No” pledge.

Prizes will be given to students throughout the week.

To go along with Red Ribbon Week, CES will sponsor a canned food drive for the Campbellsville/Taylor County Ministerial Association Food Pantry.

The class that brings in the most cans will win a prize.

Last school year, more than 1,250 cans were collected.

The food drive begins Monday, Oct. 23, and will end Friday, Oct. 27.
