CIS Marching Ensemble wins first place

Campbellsville Independent Schools Marching Ensemble brought home another first-place trophy on Saturday, Sept. 30.

The band competed at Casey County High School in Liberty.

The CHS band won first place in Class A, defeating Paris by six points, and advanced to finals competition.

In the evening competition, CHS finished in fourth place, defeating Paris and Lincoln, Marion and Nelson counties.

This year’s show is entitled The Black Mirror Effect, which is a unique show that explores the hidden aspects of social media and the effect it can have on our persona and attitudes.

The ensemble includes about 30 playing members, five color guard and several volunteers to create special effects.

CIS competes in the Kentucky Music Educators Association marching band circuit, in Class A, and in the Mid-States Band Association circuit, also in Class A.

The band will compete again on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Tates Creek High School in Lexington. CHS will perform in preliminary competition at 1 p.m.

Zach Shelton is the CHS band director. Brittany Johnson is assistant.
