CMS girls’ basketball team defeats Burgin, Russell and Green

Campbellsville Middle School girls’ basketball team recently defeated Burgin and Russell and Green counties.

 

On Sept. 18, CMS sixth- and eighth-grade teams defeated Burgin.

 

The sixth-grade win was the first for the team this season. Final score was 18-16.

 

Campbellsville Elementary School fifth-graders Ta’Zaria Owens and CMS seventh-grader Dakota Slone each added seven points and fifth-graders Miley Hash and Dezarae Washington each added two.

 

Eighth-graders won their game by a score of 44-2.

 

Eighth-grader Kaylyn Smith led with 14 points. Eighth-grader Lainey Watson added eight points, seventh-graders Bri Hayes and Briana Davis had five points each, seventh-grader Antaya Epps had four points and seventh-grader BreAnna Humphress and eighth-grade Bri Gowdy each had two points.

 

On Sept. 19, CMS traveled to Russell County and picked up two wins.

 

Seventh-graders won by a score of 35-25.

 

Bri Hayes, a seventh-grader, led with 17 points. Seventh-grader Briana Davis had eight points, Antaya Epps, also a second-grader, had five points, seventh-grader Dakota Slone had three points and BreAnna Humphress, a seventh-grader, added two.

 

The eighth-grade squad won by a score of 42-30.

 

Eighth-graders Lainey Watson and Bri Gowdy each added 14 points to the scoreboard. Eighth-grader Kaylyn Smith had seven points and seventh-grader Bri Hayes had six points.

 

On Sept. 26, CMS traveled to Green County and picked up two more wins.

 

Seventh-graders won by a score of 29-19.

 

Antaya Epps, a seventh-grader, led with nine points. Seventh-grader Dakota Slone had seven, BreAnna Humphress, also a seventh-grader, added six points, seventh-grader Briana Davis had four points and Bri Hayes, also a seventh-grader, added three points.

 

The eighth-grade squad won by a score of 54-15.

 

Kaylyn Smith and Lainey Watson, eighth-graders, led with 12 points each. Eighth-grader Bri Gowdy added nine points and eighth-grader Rylee Petett and seventh-grader Bri Hayes each added four points.

 

After fall break, the CMS team will host Hart County on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 5:30 p.m. at the Campbellsville Elementary School campus.
