CHS FCA students encouraged to ‘push’ themselves

Campbellsville High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes students recently heard a message encouraging them to “push” themselves in everything they do.

Bro. John Butler of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church recently spoke to CHS FCA members and encouraged them to always try to do what’s right.

Butler, who played football at CHS in the 1970s and 1980s, said he remembers having to run after every practice.

He said he and his teammates were made to complete the Eagle Run after each practice, in which they had to sprint down the football field in less than a minute.

Completing the Eagle Run wasn’t punishment, Butler said, but their coach helping them to be ready to play.

Butler told the students that they should also be ready as Christians.

“You need to be ready to run for God,” he said.

Butler said students should “push” themselves in life, by praying until something happens.

He said students might not be good at everything they try, but the only way to know is to prepare.

“Keep running the race,” he said.

CHS FCA students meet each Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at the school.

CHS teacher Cheryl Dicken and Campbellsville Elementary School teacher Lynn Kearney lead the group, along with senior Austin Fitzgerald.
