CHS football team prepares for upcoming season

Campbellsville High School football team is preparing for its upcoming season.

 

Dale Estes is beginning his sixth season as the team’s head coach.

 

Assistants are Blake Milby, Herb Wiseman, Tyler Hardy, Robbie Gribbins, Bronson Gowdy, Will Griffin and Aaron Webb.

 

Estes and his assistants are working with their players during practices and scrimmages to prepare for the upcoming season.

 

This year’s squad features four seniors, including Ryan Wiedewitsch, Ryan Jeffries, Austin Carter and Devonte Cubit.

 

The first game of the season will be a scrimmage with Metcalfe County on Friday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. at the CHS stadium.

 

In this year’s annual Forcht Bank Bowl, CHS will take on Washington County on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 8:30 p.m. at Campbellsville University.

Friday, Sept. 22 – Fort Knox, 7:30 p.m., CHS.

 

Friday, Sept. 29 – Russell County, 7:30 p.m., CHS.

 

Friday, Oct. 13 – Bethlehem, 7:30 p.m., CHS.

 

Friday, Oct. 20 – Caverna, 7:30 p.m., away.

 

Friday, Oct. 27 – LaRue County, 7:30 p.m., CHS.

 

Playoffs begin on Friday, Nov. 3, with the region championship on Nov. 17, semi-state on Nov. 24 and the state championship on Dec. 1.

 

The CHS football team is hosting two upcoming fundraisers.

 

The team’s kickoff bass tournament will be Friday, Aug. 4, at Green River Lake.

 

The tournament begins at 7 p.m. at boat ramp No. 1 and is slated to end at 1 a.m.

 

There will be a $1,000 guarantee for the first-place team, based on 20 boats.

 

Entry fee is $80, with $10 automatically going into the big bass pot.

 

The team’s fourth annual kickoff dinner and auction will be Sunday, Aug. 6.

 

Dinner will start at 12:30 p.m. and the auction will follow in the CHS cafeteria and gymnasium.

 

Tickets are $10 each and the menu will include shredded barbecue pork and chicken, beans, hash brown casserole, dessert and drinks, catered by Brothers.

 

All money raised will go toward purchasing football equipment for the upcoming season.
