CHS students named AP Scholars

In honor of their exceptionally high exam scores, three Campbellsville High School graduates and a rising senior have been named AP Scholars.

At CHS, Blair Lamb, Laura Lamb and Murphy Lamb, who graduated from CHS in May, were named AP Scholars, as was Bryce Richardson, who will be a senior at CHS in the fall.

The College Board awards the AP Scholar honor when a student demonstrates college-level achievement through Advanced Placement courses and exams.

To receive the honor, students must have scored an average of 3.25 on all their AP tests, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams.

AP exam scores range from 1 to 5, with college credit given to those who score a 3 or higher, or, depending on the college, a score of 2.

Blair Lamb took four AP exams in the 2016-2017 school year, receiving an average score of 4.

She received the highest score, which is a 5, in computer science principles. She received a 4 in English literature composition and U.S. history, and a 3 in physics.

Murphy Lamb averaged a 3.75 on his four AP exams. He received a 5 in computer science principles, a 4 in physics and 3s in English literature composition and U.S. history.

Richardson also averaged a 3.75 on his four exams. He received a 5 in English language composition, a 4 in physics and 3s in English literature composition and U.S. government and politics.

Laura Lamb averaged a 3.5 on her four AP exams. She received 4s in English literature composition and computer science principles and 3s in U.S. history and physics.

In all, the Lambs and Richardson scored an average of 3.75 on their AP exams.

CHS formed a partnership with AdvanceKentucky in the 2015-2016 school year to expand its lineup of AP course offerings. As a result of the partnership, students who take AP courses and then pass subsequent exams will receive cash rewards for doing so.

CHS is the only school in Taylor County to have such a partnership with AdvanceKentucky.
