About 40 participate in ‘Hoop It Up’ basketball camp

Campbellsville High School boys’ basketball coaches and players hosted a “Hoop It Up” basketball clinic on June 12-15 at the CHS gym.

 

More than 40 students entering first through eighth grades this fall participated.

 

At the clinic, participants learned fundamentals and competed in shooting and fundamental contests and three-on-three and five-on-five play.

 

CHS head coach Tim Davis, assistant coaches Will Griffin, Cody Wills and Chris “Peewee” Smith and several players taught participants about discipline and a hard work ethic.

 

The camp offered three age divisions, ABA, NCAA and NBA.

 

At the end of camp, several awards were given to campers for their hard work during the week.

 

Award winners are as follow.

 

Free Throw Shooting

 

Monday – Brice Spaw, NBA; Lee Colvin and Keaton Hord, NCAA; and Les Colvin, Cayton Lawhorn, Owen Skaggs and Lanigan Price, ABA.

 

Tuesday – Landon Colvin, NBA; Lee Colvin and Abram Braxton, NCAA; and Griff Thomas, ABA.

 

Wednesday – Chase Hord and Zamar Owens, NBA; Lee Colvin, NCAA; and Griff Thomas, ABA.

 

Thursday – Landon Colvin, NBA; Lee Colvin, NCAA; and Les Colvin, AB

 

Competition Shooting

 

Agility Shooting – Landon Colvin and Chase Hord, NBA; Lee Colvin and Landon Bradshaw, NCAA; and Cayton Lawhorn, ABA.

 

Lay-Ups – Camren Vicari, NBA; Keaton Hord and Christian Hart, NCAA; and Rajon Taylor, ABA.

 

10 Spots – Brice Spaw, NBA; Lee Colvin, NCAA; and Cayton Lawhorn, ABA.

 

Long and Shorts – Brice Spaw, Zamar Owens and Ryan Tucker, NBA; Lee Colvin, NCAA; and Griff Thomas, ABA.

 

Beat Stephon Curry – Landon Colvin, NBA; Christian Hart, NCAA; and Griff Thomas, ABA.
