The Kentucky High School Athletic Coaches Association chose Davis for the honor.

Criteria for the nomination includes longevity, service to high school athletics, honors and much more.

The National High School Athletic Coaches Association is the oldest coaches association in the nation, formed by coaches, for coaches, and has honored coaches from across the nation. Coaches have been inducted into the NHSACA National Hall of Fame since 1996.

He later began teaching special education at Marion County High School and became the school's head basketball coach. He was employed there for 12 years.

His longest education stint, however, has been at Campbellsville High School.

He has taught special education at CHS and has served as athletic director for many years.

During the 2016-2017 school year, Davis completed his 22nd year as CHS boys’ basketball head coach.
