CES students make wind chimes

Campbellsville Elementary School Wings Express students recently made their own wind chimes.

Sarah Hampton, Taylor County Public Library outreach librarian, recently visited CES to read to Wings Express students.

After the stories, Hampton helped students use paper plates to make their own wind chimes.

Students decorated the plates with markers and then added streamers and a string to them so they can make noise in the wind.

At Wings Express, students receive help with reading, math, science, technology, social skills and more. They also participate in activities to learn about nutrition.

Wings Express students stay at school from 3 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Fridays for activities.

There are no Wings Express activities on Wednesdays.

Students are given a snack and then divided into groups to participate in programs that best fit their needs.

About 90 students participate in the Wings Express program.

Amanda Barnett is Wings Express director.

For more information about the program, call Barnett at (270) 465-4561 Ext. 31141.
