CMS students learn about preparing for college

Campbellsville Middle School eighth-graders recently learned about preparing for college.

Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority Outreach Counselor Audrey Price recently came to CMS to talk to eighth-grade students about what they need to be doing now to prepare for college.

Price discussed the different types of colleges in Kentucky, along with the many degrees and certificate programs students might study.

She also discussed the importance of applying for scholarships, as soon as their freshman year of high school.

Students learned how KEES money is calculated, and why it’s important for them to receive good grades in their high school classes.

Price said it’s important for students to have a plan for their high school careers that will set a path for them to attend college.

She discussed how students can learn about colleges, and what they should consider when choosing one.

To end their session, Price played a game with students in which they were asked to guess a career based on clues given.
