CHS seniors honored at Class Night

Campbellsville High School seniors were honored at this year’s Class Night ceremony in the CHS gym on Tuesday, May 16.

 

Each student was recognized and honored with various awards and scholarships.

 

This year’s senior class officers led the ceremony.

 

They include President Zack Settle; Vice President Caylie Blair; Secretary Blair Lamb; Treasurer Vera Brown; and Historian Ricky Smith-Cecil.

 

Many students were presented scholarships during the ceremony. They include:

Eagle Award (3.85 to 4.0 GPA) – Caylie Blair, Blair Lamb, Mallory Haley, Laura Lamb, Caroline McMahan, Murphy Lamb and Shauna Jones.

 

Students also received honor chords to wear during their graduation ceremony, which was Saturday, May 22. The chords given honor students for completing the Work Ethics Seal, being college and/or career ready, Beta membership and being a member of the National Honor Society.

 

Students were also recognized for being in the Top 10 percent of the class and Kentucky Scholars.

 

Blair Lamb and Murphy Lamb received valedictorian medals and Laura Lamb received a salutatorian medal.

 

After the Class Night ceremony, the senior slideshow was played.

 

Each member of the CHS Class of 2017 was recognized and honored during the Class Night ceremony.

 

Zack Settle delivered the welcome and closing remarks. Jaleel Cowan gave the invocation and Shauna Jones delivered the benediction.

 

Kayla Atkinson, Caylie Blair, Vera Brown, Blair Lamb, Zack Settle and Ricky Smith-Cecil presented the members of the Class of 2017.

 

Ricky Smith-Cecil gave the class history.

 

The Class of 2017’s motto is “You is kind. You is smart. You is important,” from the movie “The Help.”

 

The class flower is the purple hydrangea, the song is “I Was Here” by Beyonce and the class colors are purple and gold.

 

Senior class sponsors are CHS media specialist Valerie Davis and guidance counselor Richard Dooley.

 

There were 63 members of the CHS Class of 2017.

Kayla Atkinson

 

Kayla is the daughter of Sandy and Anthony Atkinson. Her future plans are to attend Berea College and major in Spanish.

She was recognized at Class Night for being a member of the 20-point ACT Club, scoring proficient in English 10, U.S. history, algebra 2 and junior on-demand writing, being college and career ready in family and consumer science and completing family and consumer sciences industry certification.

 

Chase Atwood

 

Chase is the son of Jerry Atwood and Crystal Childers. His future plans are to get a job or attend Lindsey Wilson College.

He was recognized at Class Night for being career ready, receiving the Work Keys national career readiness silver level certificate and completing IC3 industry certification.

 

Darius Bell

 

Darius is the son of Jeanetta Smith and Anthony Bell. His future plans are to pursue sports medicine and play basketball.

 

Caylie Blair

 

Caylie is the daughter of Bryan Blair and Terri Slinker. Her future plans are to attend Western Kentucky University and major in kinesiology and exercise science.

She was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 20-point ACT Club, Beta Club and National Honor Society, scoring distinguished in junior on-demand writing, being proficient in English 10, sophomore on-demand writing, U.S. history, algebra 2 and biology, for being college and career ready in information and support services, completing IC3 industry certification, being in the Top 10 percent of her class and being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Zack Bottoms

 

Zack is the son of Adam and Kecia Bottoms. His future plans are to attend Lindsey Wilson College and major in criminal justice and environmental science and play soccer.

He was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 25-point ACT Club, being proficient in U.S. history and algebra 2, being college and career ready in welding, receiving the Work Keys national career readiness silver level certificate, completing industry certification in welding and being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Jared Brewster

 

Jared is the son of Suzanne Davis and David Brewster. His future plans are to attend Lindsey Wilson College and be a member of the bowling team.

He was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 25-point ACT Club, scoring distinguished on junior on-demand writing and U.S. history, scoring proficient in English 10 and biology, being college and career ready in information and support services, completing IC3 industry certification and being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Logan Brown

 

Logan is the son of Krissy and Johnny Welch and the late Robert Guiterrez. His future plans are to attend Kentucky Wesleyan College to play football and major in education.

Gabriel Clark

 

Gabriel is the son of Jennifer and Andrew Clark. His future plans are to attend Campbellsville University.

He was honored at Class Night for scoring distinguished in junior on-demand writing and proficient in U.S. history, being career ready in family and consumer science, receiving a Work Keys national career readiness silver level certificate, completing family and consumer sciences industry certification and being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Jon Tanner Coppage

 

Jon Tanner is the son of Jessica and Rich Childs and Todd Coppage. His future plans are to become a radiologist.

 

Micah Corley

 

Micah is the son of Latonya Bridgewater. His future plans are to attend Kentucky State University on a football scholarship and major in criminal justice.

He was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 20-point ACT Club, scoring proficient in junior on-demand writing, U.S. history and algebra 2 and being college ready.

 

Jaleel Cowan

 

Jaleel is the son of Carol and Melvin Cowan. His future plans are to attend Campbellsville University and major in mass communications.

He was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 20-point ACT Club, scoring proficient in sophomore and junior on-demand writing, U.S. history and algebra 2, being college and career ready in business multimedia and completing Microsoft Office specialist industry certification.

 

Sidney Grady

 

Sidney is the daughter of Shelly Grady and Tony Grady. Her future plans are to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College to study business.

She was honored at Class Night for scoring proficient in on-demand writing and English 10, being career ready in marketing, receiving the Work Keys national career readiness silver level certificate and completing KOSSA marketing certification.

 

Arick Groves

 

Arick is the son of Emily Farris and Ty Groves. His future plans are to attend Kentucky State University and play football.

Laura May Gutierrez

 

Laura is the daughter of Junior and Carol Gutierrez. Her future plans are to attend Campbellsville University to major in criminal justice and minor in computer science.

She was honored at Class Night for being a Kentucky Scholar, being a member of the 20-point ACT Club, scoring proficient in junior on-demand writing, U.S. history and English 10, being college and career ready in information and support services and completing IC3 industry certification.

 

Mallory Haley

 

Mallory is the daughter of Andy and Patty Haley. Her future plans are to attend Northern Kentucky University and pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

She was honored at Class Night for being a member of BETA Club and the 20-point ACT Club, scoring distinguished in sophomore on-demand writing, scoring proficient in junior on-demand writing, U.S. history, English 10 and biology, being college and career ready in nursing, completing SRNA industry certification and being a member of the National Art Honor Society.

 

Kyrsten Hill

 

Kyrsten is the daughter of John and Tonya Hill. Her future plans are to pursue a career in graphic design and minor in journalism.

She was honored at Class Night for being a member of the National Art Honor Society, scoring proficient in sophomore and junior on-demand writing and U.S history, being college and career ready in information and support services and completing IC3 industry certification.

 

Shauna Jones

 

Shauna is the daughter of Dana Jones and the late Mark Jones. Her future plans are to attend Lindsey Wilson College and major in business.

She was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 20-point ACT Club, scoring proficient in junior on-demand writing, biology, algebra 2 and U.S. history, being college ready, being a member of the Top 10 percent of her class and being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Blair Lamb

 

Blair is the daughter of Doug Lamb and Tammy Harris. Her future plans are to attend Northern Kentucky University and major in musical theatre.

She was honored at Class Night for being a Kentucky Scholar, being a member of the BETA Club, being a Governor’s Scholars Program, Rogers Scholar and Governor’s School for the Arts participant, being a member of the National Honor Society and 30-point ACT Club, for being chosen as Taylor County’s Distinguished Young Woman and fourth runner-up in the Kentucky Distinguished Young Woman program, scoring distinguished in sophomore and junior on-demand writing, U.S. history, English 10, biology and algebra 2, being college ready, being a member of the Top 10 percent of her class and being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Laura Lamb

 

Laura is the daughter of Doug Lamb and Tammy Harris. Her future plans are to attend Northern Kentucky University and study music.

Murphy is the son of Doug Lamb and Tammy Harris. His future plans are to attend the University of Louisville and pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.

He was honored at Class Night for being a Kentucky Scholar, being a member of the BETA Club, being a Governor’s Scholars Program, HOBY and Governor’s School for the Arts participant, being a member of the National Honor Society and 30-point ACT Club, scoring distinguished in junior on-demand writing, U.S. history, English 10, biology and algebra 2, scoring proficient in sophomore on-demand writing, being college ready and being a member of the Top 10 percent of his class.

 

Madison Lewis

 

Madison is the daughter of Roger and Penny Lewis. Her future plans are to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and study medical information technology.

Caroline is the daughter of Ron and Cathy McMahan. Her future plans are to attend Transylvania University.

Deovion is the daughter of Udena Taylor. Her future plans are to attend Jefferson Community and Technical College to be a physical therapist assistant.

Shelby Page

 

Shelby is the daughter of Bridgett Cowan and Jeff Page. Her future plans are to attend a two-year college to become a special education teacher.

She was honored at Class Night for being KOSSA certified in family and consumer science.

 

Michael Porter

Michael is the son of Tammy Porter and Kevin Washington. His future plans are to become a chef.

He was honored at Class Night for being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Jordan Pratt

 

Jordan is the son of Brian and Melissa Pratt. His future plans are to attend Western Kentucky University to earn an engineering degree and complete a 20-year tenure with the National Guard.

Ben Rafferty

 

Ben is the son of Amanda Hall, Richard Hall and John Poast. His future plans are to attend Campbellsville University.

Ricky is the son of Cha-Cha Smith and Ricky Cecil. His future plans are to attend Western Kentucky University and major in education.

Breanna Spaulding

 

Breanna is the daughter of Genesia Sallee. Her future plans are to attend Campbellsville University and major in elementary education.

She was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 20-point ACT Club, scoring proficient in junior on-demand writing and English 10, being college and career ready in information and support services and completing IC3 industry certification.

 

Tonika Spaulding

 

Tonika is the daughter of Sophia Spaulding. Her future plans are to attend cosmetology school at Campbellsville University.

She was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 20-point ACT Club, scoring proficient in sophomore and junior on-demand writing, U.S. history, English 10, biology and algebra 2 and being college ready.

 

Diamond Thompson

 

Diamond is the daughter of April Williams. Her future plans are to attend Jefferson Community and Technical College for two years and then transfer to the University of Louisville to become a principal.

She was honored at Class Night for scoring proficient in algebra 2.

 

Austyn Thornton

 

Austyn is the son of Dale Thornton, Paula Thornton-Thompson and Stanley Thompson. His future plans are to become the man he wants to be.

 

Robert Tungate

 

Robert is the grandson of Wanda Tungate. His future plans are to become a firefighter and a sheriff.

He was honored at Class Night for being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Alexis Underwood

 

Alexis is the daughter of the late Monica Underwood and the late Francis Sparks. Her future plans are undecided.

She was honored at Class Night for scoring proficient in junior on-demand writing.

 

Noah Wagers

 

Noah is the son of Steve and Kim Wagers. His future plans are to attend Lindsey Wilson College and pursue a golf career.

He was honored at Class Night for being a member of the 20-point ACT Club and being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Brenna Wethington

 

Brenna is the daughter of John and Sheila Wethington. Her future plans are to play softball for Lindsey Wilson College while majoring in elementary education.

She was honored at Class Night for being a member of the BETA Club, National Honor Society and the 20-point ACT Club, scoring proficient in sophomore on-demand writing, being college and career ready in business multimedia, completing IC3 industry certification and being a work ethic seal recipient.

 

Stone Williams

 

Stone is the son of Milt and Carla Williams. His future plans are to attend college and be successful in whatever field he chooses.

He was honored at Class Night for being college ready and a work ethic seal recipient.
