CMS eighth-graders honored at recognition ceremony

In a matter of days, they will leave their middle school classrooms and become high school students.

“Class of 2021, we wish you the best, and we love ya,” their leader said.

Campbellsville Middle School eighth-graders were honored with several special awards and recognitions on Sunday, May 7.

CMS Principal Elisha Rhodes told her eighth-graders that the day is set aside to celebrate them and their accomplishments.

“As principal of Campbellsville Middle School, it has been my privilege to watch this class grow and mature over the past four years,” she said.

Not only have the students matured by growing older, Rhodes said, the students have also discovered the leaders within themselves.

Many in this class have reached MAP scores and grades they never thought possible, she said, and achieved victory in the classroom and on the athletic field.

“And among this class, we have cut down nets, hung banners and [elected] the KYA president of the Senate,” she said. “Wow, is all I can say.

“Class of 2021, as you complete your journey at CMS and began your first at CHS, I encourage you to remember the Seven Habits that we have worked to instill in you the last three years,” she said.

The favorite, Rhodes said, is Sharpen the Saw, but she wants students to continue growing in all seven areas of leadership.

“Those are the habits that will lead you to victory in life,” she said.

“Amongst you, I see our future doctors, lawyers, electricians, beauticians, architects, politicians and so much more.”

Rhodes said she wants to leave the class with a quote to motivate them.

“If you can dream it, you can do it,” she said.

“Our world is need of people who are leaders to make a change. Reach for the stars and be the difference you want to see.

“Remember, both leadership and change begin with you.”
