CHS students named state champions at STLP competition

Campbellsville High School students brought home several top awards at the state STLP competition.

 

The competition was Wednesday, April 12, at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

 

CHS sophomores Jackson Hinton, Ryan Kearney, Tristan Johnson and Layton Hord, freshman Cole Kidwell and junior Cody Davis were named state champions in the Sphero Hero competition.

 

Laura Lamb, a senior, is a state champion in the digital photo competition. Caylie Blair, also a senior, received third place.

 

CHS juniors Christian Berry, Cody Davis and Cass Kidwell were named state runners-up in the Dell and Microsoft Gaming Minecraft competition.

 

Gracyne Hash, a freshman, was named state runner-up in the digital storytelling competition.

 

CHS sophomores Elizabeth Sullivan and Hayley Stapleton are state runners-up in University of Louisville podcasting.

 

Shauna Jones and Ben Rafferty, seniors, and junior Christian Berry and sophomore Randy Harris were named State Level 3 finalists in Project Showcase, entitled "Minecraft Circuitry and Logic Gates."

 

Service Team Members included sophomore Reagan Knight, live reporting; junior Sara Farmer and sophomore Christina Phipps, Blogger Corps; and junior Tristan Harvey, scratch ambassador.

 

The awards ceremony from the STLP competition is available for viewing on the Kentucky Department of Education website at stlp.education.ky.gov.

 

Student Technology Leadership Program uses project-based learning principles to empower student learning and achievement through the utilization and creation of technology to solve school and community needs.

 

STLP also provides a framework for highlighting the advanced use of technology for learning in Kentucky’s classrooms.

 

It provides opportunities for students to share their projects, products and services at local, district, regional, state and national events.

 

Sonya Kessler is the STLP sponsor at CHS.
