Campbellsville Elementary School preschool program was recently evaluated and has received the highest rating possible – five stars.

This school year was the first that the CES program was rated as part of the Kentucky All STARS program, which is administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, the Department for Community Based Services, the Division of Child Care and the Kentucky Department of Education.

According to the Department of Education, CES preschool program achieved the top rating by meeting the regulations for state-funded preschool in Kentucky and for pursuing excellence in the program’s environment, instruction, staff qualifications, parent and community involvement and administrative practices.

CES Principal Ricky Hunt said all preschool programs will eventually be evaluated as part of the Kentucky All STARS program.

According to the CES preschool’s evaluation, the program received 46 out of 50 possible points.

Hunt said it’s fantastic to see the program receive such a high rating, especially during its first year participating in the program.

The Kentucky All STARS program is based on Kentucky’s Early Childhood Standards.

Sherry Cowherd and Denise Spencer are the CES preschool teachers, and assistants are Jessica Williams and Beth Sandidge, respectively.
