Campbellsville Elementary School students recently had fun and learned about contractions while playing shamrock games.
Students recently rotated to two stations during their CES Explorers time.
At the first station, students played a pot of gold game in which they rolled a dice and moved on a game board. When they landed, students read two words put together as a contraction, and then wrote a sentence using the contraction.
At the other station, students colored a St. Patrick’s Day scene by using a key that listed a contraction with a specific color. Students were asked to color each item in the scene by using the key. Each item was labeled with a specific contraction.
Lastly, students were given a worksheet that listed several contractions and they had to write the two words that make that contraction.
CES Explorers is one of several activity classes that students have each week. Miriah Cox, who leads the CES Explorers class, teaches students about reading strategies, vowel sounds, parts of speech, reading comprehension and much more.
