CES students win pizza as reading reward

Campbellsville Elementary School students recently received free pizza as a reward for reading.

In Amanda Greer’s first-grade class, students participate in the Accelerated Reader program.

Accelerated Reader is a motivational program used to help students develop reading skills. Students read books and answer questions about them. The student is awarded points based on how many questions they answer correctly on the quiz.

AR isn’t required at CES, though the majority of second- and third-grade students are participating. Some kindergarten and first-grade students are also participating.

Greer monitors how many AR points her students accumulate.

For every five points they receive each month, Greer’s students receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut, as part of the Book It! program.

Greer’s students who recently received free pizza coupons for accumulating at least five points include Tommy Caswell, Izzy Brunelle, Hunter Clark, Sawyer Lange, Makyian Bridgewater and Caleb Ortiz.
