CMS students make pasta salad

Campbellsville Middle School fourth-graders recently learned about nutrition and made their own pasta salad.

Jordan Stapp, 4-H program assistant at Taylor County Extension Office, recently spoke to students.

Stapp talked to students about the food groups – with a focus on grains – and how much food they should eat in a day and in a serving size.

He discussed recipes with the students and how they will use math when cooking.

After the lesson, Stapp helped students make pasta salad with whole wheat and garden delight pasta. It also contained cauliflower, sugar snap peas, broccoli, carrots and Italian dressing.

When the salad was ready, students got to sample their creation.
