CHS students create Pop Art

Campbellsville High School art students are making their own Pop Art.

Students in Jo Ann Harris’s art classes have been studying Peter Max’s artwork.

Max is a German-born American illustrator and graphic artist, known for the use of psychedelic shapes, cosmic imagery and bright color palettes.

His early work, from the 1960s, appeared on posters and was seen on the walls of many college dorm rooms across America.

He is described as a Pop Artist, as a surrealist and a neo-expressionist.

Pop Art is an art movement that emerged in the mid-1950s and uses imagery from pop culture.

Harris’s students created their own works of art, using Pop Art styling and Max’s style of using bright colors and psychedelic shapes.
