CHS students study chemical reactivity

Campbellsville High School chemistry students are learning about chemical reactions.

 

In Dee Doss’s AP chemistry class, students recently had a guest lecturer.

 

Lew Acampora, senior science director with AdvanceKentucky, came to CHS to talk to students about chemical reactivity.

 

CHS partnered with AdvanceKentucky last school year to expand its AP course offerings. As part of the partnership, Acampora periodically comes to CHS to talk to Doss’s and other classes.

 

Acampora did several experiments with Doss’s students.

 

He showed them the chemical reactions zinc and copper make with hydrochloric acid, and what happens when copper is mixed with nitric acid.

 

Afterward, Acampora showed students how to write the net ionic equations for the reactions.
