CHS girls’ basketball team advances to tournament championship

Campbellsville High School girls’ basketball team has advanced to the CHS Food Pantry Holiday Classic championship game.

 

CHS defeated Hart County in the first round of the tournament, and beat Metcalfe County on Thursday, Dec. 22.

 

Final score was 64-55.

 

The Lady Eagles team had four players in double figures in the contest.

 

Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Catlyn Clausen led her team with 15 points, knocking down four three-point baskets in the contest.

 

CHS junior Nena Barnett had 11 points and senior Brenna Wethington and junior Vonnea Smith each added 10 to the scoreboard.

 

The championship game will pit CHS against Whitley County.

 

Game time is 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, at the CHS gym.

 

Anthony Epps is in his first year as CHS girls’ basketball head coach.

 

Assistant coaches are Katie Wilkerson, Natalia Warren, George Eon and Debbie Gowdy-Smith.

 

After the holiday break, the girls’ freshmen team will take on Elizabethtown and Glasgow on Monday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively, at the CHS gym.

 

The JV team will play Spencer County on Monday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. at the CHS gym.

 

And the varsity squad will take on Taylor County on Friday, Jan. 6, at 6 p.m. at Taylor County High School.
