CHS cross country team ends season

Campbellsville High School cross country team finished its season last month, with two runners nearly qualifying for the state meet.

 

On Tuesday, Oct.18, the team competed at Miller Park in a last chance meet.

 

In the elementary division, Campbellsville Middle School fourth-grader Abbie Oliver finished the race in 8:27.

 

In the middle school division, CMS fifth-grader Karleigh Oliver finished in third place at 11:23, and seventh-grader Serenity Ford was seventh.

 

For the middle school boys, sixth-grader Chase Hord finished in second place, at 10:54. Caleb Holt, a fifth-grader, was third, finishing in 11:22.

 

Eighth-grader Jake Dicken was fourth place, at 11:36, and seventh-grader Seth Hash finished in sixth place.

 

And in the high school race, senior Kyrsten Hill finished in seventh place, at 25:18. Gracyne Hash, a freshman, was eighth.

 

Sophomores Ian McAninch and Evan McAninch finished in 14th and 15th place, respectively, at 20:50 and 21:03.

 

Jonathan Sparks, an eighth-grader, finished in 22nd place.

 

The team competed in Class A Region 3 competition on Saturday, Oct. 29, in Oldham County.

 

CHS freshmen Zoe McAninch and Gracyne Hash narrowly missed advancing to the state meet.

 

They finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively, in the at-large positions. The Top 5 finishers advanced.

 

Overall, Zoe McAninch finished in 19th place, with Gracyne Hash in 24th. Kyrsten Hill was 31st.

 

And in the boys’ race, Ian McAninch finished in 40th place, Evan McAninch was 43rd and Jonathan Sparks was 50th.
