CES academic team students win awards at region Governor’s Cup competition

Campbellsville Elementary School academic team members competed at Region Governor’s Cup competition on Monday, Feb. 26, and Saturday, March 3, at Jamestown Elementary School in Jamestown.

 

Several students brought home awards, and the team finished in seventh place overall.

 

At Governor’s Cup competitions, teams compete in on-demand writing, quick recall, future problem solving and five written exams, including math, science, social studies, language arts and arts and humanities.

 

At region competition, fifth-grader Zeke Harris finished first in language arts.

 

The CES future problem solving team, made up of fourth-graders Connor Coots and Grayson Dooley and fifth-graders Logan England and Bryanna Fitzgerald, won third place.

 

CES students advanced to region competition after performing well at District competition on Tuesday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 10.

 

At region competition, CES competed against Adair, Cumberland, Metcalfe, Jamestown, Russell Springs, Salem, Taylor and Wayne County Monticello elementary schools, Green County Intermediate School and Clinton County Middle School.

 

Samantha Coomer sponsors CES academic team, which is made up of third-, fourth- and fifth-graders, with assistance from Debbie Edwards and Steven Gumm, who co-sponsor the Campbellsville Middle School academic team.
