CIS community partner receives Change Award

Campbellsville Independent Schools community partner Rob Collins received the Change Award at the Campbellsville Board of Education meeting on Monday, Nov. 13.

Campbellsville Independent Schools Superintendent Kirby Smith honors three Change Award winners each month, including a certified and classified employee and a community member.

Collins, who is a radio personality at Q-104, received the community Change Award.

The awards are given based upon six elements, which spell the word Eagles. They include Encouraging and exhibiting Attitudes of Greatness, while Leading with high Expectations to Success.

In reading a letter nominating Collins for the honor, Smith read that it’s difficult to find someone who has a more positive attitude than him.

“Rob is a true community cheerleader, and spends his days celebrating the accomplishments of others,” Smith read.

“There is no one who works harder to ensure our community is informed about upcoming events, knows what’s happening in the local school systems and even whose birthday is today. As Rob always says, birthdays are a privilege denied to many.”

As a dedicated radio personality at Q-104, Smith said, Collins has helped Campbellsville High School students cultivate their love of radio and public speaking.

Each week, on Tuesday mornings, Collins is a host to the Eagle News Team, and does so with kindness, compassion and true servant leadership, Smith said.

“Rob also volunteers his time to read to Campbellsville Elementary School students,” he said. “And even if students don’t know Rob personally, they always recognize his voice.

“Rob is never seen without a smile or heard without a positive word. That kind spirit is catching, and has become something our students truly love to be around.”

With Collins’s guidance, Smith said, several CHS students have continued their love of radio in their college studies.

“Everyone in Taylor County knows Rob, and we are all better for that. Rob provides an invaluable service for our community, and especially our school district,” Smith said.

“With Rob’s help, our community knows the great happenings at Campbellsville Independent Schools. We truly thank him for that. Rob is to be commended for his true servant heart and mentorship. May we all be so fortunate to call him our friend.”
