CES Wings Express students enjoy baking, coloring during summer program

Campbellsville Elementary School Wings Express students had lots of fun during a four-week summer program, which began in late May and ended in June.

Students spent the second week coloring, playing dodgeball, reading, having fun at the pool, playing on the playground and visiting the Taylor County Extension Office.

At the extension office, students made butterflies out of coffee filters, made biscuits, planted flowers and made puppets.

At Wings Express, students receive help with reading, math, science, technology, social skills and more. They also participate in activities to learn about nutrition.

Wings Express students stay at CES from 3 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Fridays for activities.

There are no Wings Express activities on Wednesdays.

Students are given a snack and then divided into groups to participate in programs that best fit their needs.

About 90 students participate in the Wings Express program.

Amanda Barnett was Wings Express director during the summer program. Doretha Sanders will be director for the 2017-2018 school year.

For more information about the program, call Sanders at (270) 465-4561.
