CIS students attend Friends of Scouting breakfast

Campbellsville Independent Schools’ students attended the Taylor County Friends of Scouting breakfast on Wednesday, March 29, at Campbellsville University.

Campbellsville Elementary School third-graders Grayson Dooley and Aidan Phillips and Campbellsville Middle School fourth-graders Zeke Harris and Noah Leachman attended the breakfast, which was hosted to raise money for local Boy Scouts.

Dooley, Phillips, Harris and Leachman participate in local Cub Scouts organizations, and will soon be Boy Scouts.

Brenda Allen, who chairs the Taylor County Friends of Scouting group, spoke about the importance of scouting, as did board member Otto Tennant and Johnathan Boles, Lincoln Trail district executive.

The featured speaker was former University of Kentucky basketball player Cameron Mills.

Mills spoke about the importance of the Scout Law, which says scouts are trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.

He encouraged scouts to continue serving their community and to always exhibit the qualities of a scout.
