CES Wings Express students make 3D letters

Campbellsville Elementary School Wings Express students recently made 3D letters.

Students were given brown paper, cups and cardboard to make their letters.

After forming their letters with the cardboard and cups, students used water to cover their letter with the paper.

When finished, students will decorate their letters with drawings and colors that represent who they are and what they enjoy doing.

The goal of the project was to give students hands-on experience with 3D objects, and to help them think in three dimensions instead of two.

Wings Express is a program to help students with homework and other activities. Students receive help with reading, math, science, technology, social skills and more. They also participate in activities to learn about nutrition.

Wings Express students stay at school from 3 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Fridays for activities.

Students are given a snack and then divided into groups to participate in programs that best fit their needs.

About 90 students will participate in the Wings Express program.

Amanda Barnett is Wings Express director.
