CMS, CHS students host poetry café

Campbellsville middle and high school students are writing poetry and recently presented their poems to their classmates.

In their English classes, Tyler Hardy’s students are asked to write several types of poems, including slam poems, I Am poems, haikus, Where I’m From poems, lyric poems and many more.

After their poems were finished, students presented them in a Poetry Café setting.

Hardy said the purpose of the project is for students to get to know each other through their poetry, which often evokes emotions such as love, hate, loneliness, fear and much more.

He told his students he hopes they learn they are all experiencing those emotions, and that helps them grow closer.

Students wrote about their life experiences, including their families, school, friendships and relationships.
