CMS girls’ basketball teams defeat Metcalfe, Hart counties

Campbellsville Middle School girls’ basketball team recently defeated Metcalfe and Hart counties to advance to the Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference tournament championship.

 

In the game against Metcalfe County, the CMS seventh-graders fought hard, but didn’t get the win. The loss ended the team’s season.

 

Final score was 21-28.

 

Seventh-grader Dakota Slone led with seven points. Seventh-graders Briana Davis and Antaya Epps each had six points, and seventh-grader Bri Hayes added two.

 

Eighth-graders won by a score of 41-15.

 

Eighth-grader Bri Gowdy led with 15 points, and classmate Lainey Watson had 13. Seventh-grader Antaya Epps had five points. Eighth-grader Tayler Thompson added four points, and classmate Kaylyn Smith had two.

 

The win advanced the team to the second round of the CKMSAC tournament.

 

CMS defeated Hart County in the second round, by a score of 45-35. The win advanced the team to the tournament championship.

 

Eighth-grader Lainey Watson had 18 points and was 10 of 14 from the free throw line.

 

Bri Gowdy, also an eighth-grader, had 15 points. Eighth-graders Kaylyn Smith and Rylee Petett and seventh-grader Antaya Epps all added four points.

 

Tiara Cecil is the head CMS girls’ basketball coach. Kathy England and LeeAnn Grider are assistants.
