CHS football team hosts bass tournament

Campbellsville High School football team hosted its first bass tournament on Friday, Aug. 4, at Green River Lake.

 

In all, 21 boats were entered into the competition, with about 45 competitors.

 

Proceeds from the competition will help pay expenses for the upcoming season.

 

Delayne Smothers and Joey Allen won first place in the tournament and received $1,000. They also received $210 for catching the biggest fish.

 

Billy Benningfield and Justin Benningfield received second place and a $300 prize.

 

And, in third place, were J and Millie Ramsey. They received $150.

 

CHS head football coach Dale Estes said he hopes to host the tournament each year.

 

The CHS football team will open its season on Friday, Aug. 11, with a scrimmage against Metcalfe County at 6:30 p.m. at the CHS field.

 

The team will play in the Forcht Bank Bowl on Saturday, Aug. 19, taking on Washington County at 8:30 p.m. at the Campbellsville University campus.
