Former superintendent honored

Chuck Vaughn, former Campbellsville Independent Schools superintendent, was recently honored for his unwavering support of the District.

Vaughn was inducted into the 5th Region Athletic Director’s Hall of Fame last month in a special ceremony at Campbellsville High School.

He was also recognized at the 5th region boys’ basketball championship game on Tuesday, March 7, and presented a plaque from the region athletic directors association.

CHS athletic department personnel chose Vaughn as their nominee to join the list of those who have served the District tirelessly.

Vaughn is a Campbellsville native and a 1964 graduate of Campbellsville High School.

He was a standout athlete at CHS, earning multiple letters in four sports, including football, basketball, baseball and track.

After completing his education, Vaughn taught math at CHS for a year. He later returned to become principal and eventually superintendent.

Vaughn was always an ardent supporter of the District’s athletic programs. Under his leadership, a number of athletic facilities were upgraded or completed.

After 34 years in public school education, Vaughn retired in 2005 and accepted a position at Campbellsville University as the Big Maroon Club director.

Today, he continues to raise scholarship money for CU students with financial need as assistant vice president for planned and annual giving.
